About Marilza Gouvea

Having trained as a psychologist and having an interest in anthropology and travel, I am inspired by ancient and simple societies, where everyday hand-made objects and architecture assume an importance in peoples lives.

By traveling abroad extensively I am able to enrich and reassure these feelings. In my work I try to express the importance of houses and buildings as places of power and spirituality.

They are 'Spirit Houses', an embodiment of the magic of life. I also try to express the idea of houses/ buildings as containers (pots) for people's lives, feelings and magic.
